Urban Farmer, Denver’s Steakhouse, Denver, CO
What’s that buzzing we keep hearing at 1659 Wazee Street? Oh, that’s just our Roof Top Bee Apiary, managed by Executive Chef; Chris Starkus! Urban Farmer Denver is excited to be bringing a Honey Bee Program to our restaurant, opening this summer. What does that mean for our guests? The freshest honey you can eat, only a few floors away. We will be featuring honey on many of our dishes, including our cheese platters. These can be ordered at the beginning of the meal, or for dessert! We are not stopping there; Chef Chris will be working with a team to make lip balms and little jars for our guests as well. Honey isn’t just delicious, it also has many health benefits; it can heal wounds and burns, it is speculated that the drying effect of the simple sugars and honey’s antibacterial nature combine to help heal. Honey also, strengthens the immune system by stimulating the production of immune cells. (realfoodforlife.com)
Keep an eye out for our seed packets as well! Our guests can take home a packet of our honey bee flower mixture and plant it at home. Urban Farmer Denver, will also be planting these seeds on our roof top, to help with our apiaries. This is a special program to Chef Chris, as he started it with Urban Farmer Portland and has perfected it at home as well. “A fun project to do at work and with his family at home, there is nothing like fresh honey.” Urban Farmer Denver looks forward to sharing our honey with our guests soon!
